With the floors in, and the walls rough finished, the room makes a lot more sense now:

| From kitchen (see hole for ducted heating, and sink plumbing) into the dining room. |
Next came the installation of the joinery.
The corner in the above photo was not wasted. Accessible from outside, there is a small, 50 litre hot water cylinder, servicing just the kitchen tap. Fast, hot water. (The main hot water system was on the far side of the house and ran at a lower temperature for safety).
The other corner is this U-shaped kitchen had a cupboard accessible from the dining room (actually a variable depth cupboard).

Of course, I didn't take any photos of the finished job - we were too busy using it. If I recall correctly, we got full access a couple of days before Christmas 2004.
But here are a couple of pics with various people in the way.
 |
| You can see the huge walk-in pantry (1.8m x 2.5m) in this shot |
 |
| And here you can see the frosted glass doors for the cupboards under the raised bench. |
Here's a shot of a similar thing (this is from my parents' house in Ashbourne) which might be a bit clearer.
And two years (almost to the day) after finishing this reno, we sold and moved to Geelong. Go figure.
Shout out to
Karacsay Constructions who did the work - they did a fantastic job, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
