Idea file: wind-out casement windows that open fully

Upstairs, the boys windows don't open very far, not least because they have generic hardware store chain winders, which only allow them to open about 30 degrees. We need winders because the windows need flyscreens on them. (The screen door for the back door got damaged a couple of weeks ago in some strong wind, and in the lovely weather we've had since there have been an unwelcome number of flies coming in with the fresh air.)

I had to take the younger lad to an appointment in Melbourne today, so dropped in at a Masters Home Improvement store (like Bunnings, but blue, and not in Geelong; like Home Depot, but Australian).

There, they had casement windows that can be opened to 90 degrees with a winder. They come in metal and timber.

Indicative prices as follows. Both are special order, but likely come in other sizes.

For the aluminium one, 865 x 715 mm, the cost is $473 (Sodi Casement Win Alu);

For the timber one, 870 x 750mm the cost is $506 (Sodi Casement Win Cedar)

Googling doesn't bring up the name used by Masters (nor are they on the website), but Stegbar may also do these. It looks like Stegbar offers winders and/or internal fly screens with their casement windows but its unclear whether they will open to 90 degrees if the winder is fitted. Looking through their catalogue, it looks like they only offer the generic chain winder for awning windows, but it looks like their pivot stays for casement windows are similar to those pictured above.
